Latest Improvements Underway at NSS |

|
Just two short years after the entire racing surface was
repaved, the high-banked half-mile began it's latest project, widening and
partially re-surfacing Pit Road.
Crews were hard at work bright and early on Sunday morning preparing for the
project that began this morning when crews from MJS Concrete, out of Oviedo,
Florida began removing the old surface in
preparation for some brand new concrete.
When complete, Pit Road will be 4ft wider extending all the way to the Turn
1 'blend-lane', with a new concrete surface that will extend 15ft from the
inside Pit Wall making Pit Road a total of 42ft wide.
This latest round of improvements further emphasizes owner Robert Hart's
commitment to making New Smyrna Speedway a top-notch facility and premiere venue for both fans and competitors. Competition
Director Butch Pierce also commented on the increased safety of having a fresh
surface for teams to conduct Pit Stops on, as well as a wider area to work on
the cars.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-week, with the new surface
ready for the racing action that will resume on Saturday March 21st.
