MOTHER NATURE WINS OUT SATURDAY NIGHT AT NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY
7-14-2014 New Smyrna Speedway

New Smyrna Speedway tried Saturday night but Mother Nature threw the final
curveball at the track and officials were forced to cancel the evening's
events just after 8 pm.

Although the skies were beginning to clear and the rain was stopping, there
was still a lot of lightning in the area making it unsafe for fans and
competitors.  With over an hour still needed to dry the track as well, the
move was made to call off the show.

The rain out may have been a blessing for two-time Sportsman class winner
Junior Beckner.  A timing chain broke in his engine during warm-ups and his
car was already in the trailer well before the rains came.  Timmy Todd, Jr.,
who is currently living and working in Texas, was in the house and planned to
loan Beckner his car for the night, but the wet stuff negated that offer.
Action will continue this coming Saturday night with a 50-lap Pro Late Model
race topping the card.  So far this season there have been eight different
winners in eight Pro Late Model features.  Two 50-lap events have already been
held with those victories going to Tyler Audie and Daniel Keene, Jr.
E-Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks and Strictly Stocks will also be
racing.

Anyone who purchased a $10 adult ticket this past Saturday can use their rain
check this week at no extra charge.
