Ashley Homes Jax Trucks Deliver Another Thriller

Ashley Homes Jax Trucks Deliver Another Thriller.

New Smyrna Speedway
4/12/2025

On a crisp, cool evening the racers at New Smyrna Speedway put on one heck of a show for the fans in attendance!

The Ashley Homes JAX Trucks were once again the main event of the night and the drivers raced tooth and nail in an absolute classic. The race would get off to a slow start as Chuck Hiers would get spun in turn 3 on lap 2, nosing into the inside wall bringing an early end to his night. When the race resumed Nolan Mesa and JT Chastain would battle for the lead and once Chastain hit clean air he would take off. The main storyline was George Gotham Jr. who started last (most recent winner) as all eyes were on him as he would charge towards the front. With about 5 to go he would catch leader JT Chastain and the two would battle side by side, slipping a sliding with neither giving an inch. As their battle raged on, Nolan Mesa would catch both of them taking it three wide into turn 3. They would run out of room in turn 4 causing Gotham, Chastain and Mesa to come together and spin. Race control would penalize Mesa for the aggressive move, sending him to the back, keeping Chastain and Gotham first and second. On the restart. George Gorham would take the lead on the outside and cruise to his second straight victory and extending his point lead. Chastain would settle for 2nd with Grayson Greaves coming home 3rd.

Once again the Bomber B division brought a fantastic field of cars to the high banks and closed out the program with another thriller. Zachary Curtis would try for his 3rd straight win, once again starting in the back. He had some really tough competition this week. With Niko Garrano, Coty Gray, Mike Ganache and a host of other great racers in the field it was no easy task to get to the front. A caution for an Amy Gamache incident would bunch the field up with 11 laps to go bringing Zachary Curtis right up to the leaders. Over the final 11 laps Mike Gamache and Zachary Curtis would have an amazing battle for the win, with Curtis doing everything but spinning Gamache out to try to take the lead away. The fans who stuck around to the end were treated to a spectacular race and the first Zachary Curtis defeat of the season. With Curtis all over the back bumper for the final 2 laps Mike Gamache would hang on to pick up his first win of the campaign. Curtis came home a close 2nd with Coty Gray stealing 3rd at the line.

A nice field of 602 Modifieds would race clean and green for 20 laps with several close calls and great battles over the course of their feature event. Jon Hatton would finally shake the monkey off his back staring on the pole and leading wire to wire to pick up his first win of the 2025 season. Matt Jarrett was not too happy with the way he was raced at the beginning of the feature, but he would settle in and come home as the runner up, with his Step Father Shain Held taking the final spot on the podium. This class continues to put on great races even though they “race for fun”.

A short field of 3 Mod Minis would have a 10 lap shootout to kick off the feature events. Dylan Reynolds would take control on lap 1 and never look back to pick up his first Mod Mini victory of the season. With the recent Mod Mini changes the drivers who did show up put on the best show they could and were still happy to just be part of the show. Brad Blanton settled for 2nd with and always gracious Mark Broat rounding out the field.

This ended up being a very exciting and quick night of racing that delivered everything a race fan could ask for in one night. We will be off for Easter Weekend but will return for $5 Family Fun Night on April 26th and you will not want to miss a lap.
