Another Great Night of Racing on Family Fun Night!

New Smyrna Speedway
4/26/2025

Another Fantastic crowd was on hand on a beautiful Central Florida Spring evening proving once again, Family Fun Night is a huge success!

The E-Mods were finally able to hit the track for the first time in 2025 and they did not disappoint. A strong, competitive field would open the feature action and it did not take long for things to get wild. Curtis Robinson would bounce off the wall on the back stretch and spin entering turn 3, collecting Jarrett Korpi and Ken Copley in the melee. Jarrett and Copley would continue, while Robinson’s night would end on lap 1. When the race resumed mechanical problems would sideline heat race winner Dalton Symons, allowing Eugene Tumminello Jr. to run away at the front. Tumminello would miss practice and the heat race as he attended prom earlier in the day, but it did not hamper his efforts in the least. He would pick up where he left off last year, in victory lane. The battle in Tumminello’s mirror was a good one as some new names took advantage of others misfortune to score career best runs! Michael Mark would take home the runner up spot, while Dylan Saile would score his first career E-mod podium in the 3rd spot!

The Super Stocks were up next, and they had yet another spectacular feature event. George Spears would start on the pole position, but it would be Tyler Prenesti who looked to make a statement on this night. He would wrestle the lead away from Spears and try to set sail. However, rookie Chase Symons would run him down and make it a three-car race for the win. Symons, who almost got upside down a few weeks ago would take the lead and try to run away and hide from the field. A yellow with 3 to go for a Shawn Held slide would set up a shootout to the finish. Chase Symons and Tyler Prenesti would battle side by side for the win, with Symons finally taking the spot with a lap to go. As they battled, George Spears and Bobby Holley would swap paint a few times allowing rookie Max Wheeler to zoom by both of them to steal the 4th spot (a career best). As the checkers flew Chase Symons would score his first career Super Stock win, followed by Tyler Prenesti and Brandon Gaither rounding out the podium. Spears and Holley were not done yet however, as they would make contact again coming to the checkers sending Bobby Holley spinning down the front stretch across the line in 5th. The Spears / Holley rivalry may have just been rekindled and you will want to be here again next week to see the Super Stocks in action! It is ”can’t miss” racing right now!

Dustin Higdon took the Bomber A division to school once again as he pressured other drivers into mistakes to score his second victory of the season. He fought super hard with heat race winner Steven Davila and defending champion Caleb Jones but both drivers would be nabbed by the speeding police, by breaking out with laps un 24 seconds. As the field thinned in the closing laps Higdon would hold off a hard charging Aaron Foye to take home the hard-fought victory. Foye would settle for second with Vincent Cortez picking up a career best 3rd place finish.

The Bomber B division would follow their sister class in the feature line up and Zachary Curtis was back to doing Zachary Curtis things. After his first defeat of the season a few weeks ago, Curtis dropped the hammer leading every lap and winning by about half a track. There was a great battle for the runner up position with Lindsey Samion scoring her best career finish by coming home second. In just his second race, Dylan Bostic would take the Trump mobile to a 3rd place finish to round out the podium! Curtis said he hated to stink up the show, but he wanted to prove a point that his car is legal (anywhere he goes) and that he is just that good of a wheelman.

The Florida Southern Ground Pounders would close out the night with a literal war of attrition. They brought out a great field of cars, but the old New Smyrna Speedway was hungry for some vintage race cars. Mechanical problems would doom several drivers, but the wildest incident of the night occurred when leader Cush Revette would tangle with the lapped car of Brandon Blevins out of turn 4 ending both of their nights. As the laps would wind down Tobi Smith would take advantage of Art Kunzeman not coming up to speed on the final restart and hold off a hard charging Hank Sanders to score his first overall win of the season. Tobi was also the “Modified” Winner, with Art Kunzeman scoring the “Stock Car” win and Frank Pelkey claiming the “Sportsman” Victory!

After another great family Fun Night, the always exciting Ashley Homes Jax Pro Trucks return next Saturday Night for a $1,000 to win 25 lap shootout, along with the next exciting chapter of the Super Stock season. Plus, The bomber b and Mod Mini divisions in action too. Admission will be just $10 before 6 PM with the Early Bird Special and you will not want to miss a moment of the action. The 2025 season is off to a hot start, and we appreciate all of our drivers and fans for making it all happen!

• Jarred Smith would out duel “Big Gravy” in a very exciting Spectator Race finale to win the $300 cash prize!
